Sacred Heart and the Duluth Festival Opera present a rare, emotional tribute to the great African-American, cultural icon – contralto, Marian Anderson, who was called the “Jackie Robinson of Classical Music” and was the first black artist to appear at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. African-American soprano Sabrina Coleman-Clark will use her thrilling voice to recount the great highs and lows of Marian Anderson’s fascinating life and career in a moving, multi-media, concert tribute. The State Newspaper of Columbia, South Carolina describes her singing as “…artistically rich and intelligent.” Ms. Coleman-Clark has won numerous vocal awards, including the Leontyne Price Award, the St. Cecilia Society of Baltimore and the Dicapo Opera Theater of Manhattan. She has performed in such world-renowned venues as Peterborough Cathedral in England, the American Cathedral, the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
