Sound Unseen International Duluth officially kicks off its inaugural festival of Film, Music, and Art at Sacred Heart Music Center. Opening Night kicks off the festival with the MN premiere of FEED THE FISH, a film shot in nearby Door County (written and directed by Wisconsin native Michael Matzdorff) about a burned-out children’s author who’s approaching a mid-life crisis. Additionally, we also premiere the locally produced GOOGLE GOES TO TWIN PORTS short film in an effort to pledge our support to the Google Twin Ports project.

Joe Peterson (Ross Partridge) is a burned-out children’s author who’s approaching his mid-life crisis. Back when he actually wrote children’s books, they were pretty lousy, and now he just plain doesn’t write. His girlfriend is losing her patience with him, and to shake Joe out of this funk, his best friend (and girlfriend’s brother) JP (Michael Chernus) pulls him away from sunny California to Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, for the annual community Polar Bear Plunge. This affectionate comedy lets Joe cross paths with a colorful family of locals including Axel, an inspirational mentor (Barry Corbin), The Sheriff an obsessed law enforcement professional (Tony Shaloub) and Sif (Katie Aselton) his muse and a hockey player, good thing they’re all related!

Our gala will prove to be the hottest ticket in town as we unite with the historic Greysolon Plaza, which has played host to such guests as Henry Fonda, Charles Boyer and John F. Kennedy. The Gala will be an intimate and exclusive evening where guests will be treated to culinary delights from Black Woods Catering featuring the freshest ingredients available and will be treated to complimentary Schell’s beer and drink specials all evening. Helping to set the evening’s soundtrack while guests mingle is Anthem Heart’s DJ Talk Radio along with a live set from Minneapolis’ rising electro pop-stars Solid Gold. Lastly, the first 100 guests who purchase the Film and Gala ticket will receive a Gift Bag (valued at $75) at the opening night film screening. This is a not-to-be-missed event so buy your tickets early and join us in kicking off Sound Unseen International Duluth Film and Music Festival!
